🐾 Jet’s Blog:
Happy Blog Day, Besties!
Hares, house arrest, secret books and one extremely innocent Border Collie…
Hello besties, Jet here. 🐾
Well… it has been a packed week at Jet Stream Towers.
And when I say packed, I mean Mum has been charging about doing approximately 746 things at once, while I have mostly been supervising, offering emotional support and — on one particular occasion — making a small but memorable error in judgement.
But we’ll get to that. 👀
Monday started with our usual Grandpappy shopping day, which is now basically a weekly Jet Stream tradition.
Mum, Grandpappy and myself head off to do the shopping, I make sure everybody gets where they’re going safely, and then I inspect the bags afterwards in case anything has accidentally been purchased for me.
It happens.
Not often enough, admittedly.

Monday also brought something VERY exciting.
Mum’s new autumn book — Book 3 in my Jet Discovers series — arrived!
And I have to tell you, besties… it’s probably one of Mum’s favourite books she’s made so far.
She keeps picking it up.
Looking at it.
Putting it down.
Picking it up again.
Then saying things like,
“Jet, I actually really love this one.”
I know, Mum.
I supervised it.
You’re welcome. 😌🐾
There are still plenty of things on Mum’s enormous list of Things That Apparently Need Done Immediately, but I’m quite fond of that book myself.
You van buy one of these wee beauties direct from mum via my wee website or they are also available on Amazon as well.

🎃 Then Tuesday and Wednesday happened…
And Mum went into what I can only describe as Full Halloween Mode.
There were blankies.
Mugs.
Boo Boxes.
Books.
Packaging.
Treats.
Pumpkins.
Orange things.
Black things.
Things being photographed.
Things being put on the website.
Things being taken off the website again because Mum had changed her mind.
Things being moved three inches to the left because apparently that made them “look better”.
Basically, the house briefly became a Halloween distribution centre.
And THEN…
Something happened.
Something I would rather we all moved past.
Unfortunately, Mum appears to have no intention whatsoever of allowing that.

🐇 The Hare Incident
Besties.
Have you ever seen a hare?
Not just a hare sitting quietly in a field.
I mean a wee fluffy bunny-shaped creature suddenly launching itself away from you at approximately Mach 7.
Because I have!!
And something happened to me.
I cannot fully explain it.
One second I was Jet.
Responsible Border Collie.
Author.
Business executive.
Beloved son.
The next…
I had temporarily been possessed by the spirit of several guided missiles.
I chased it.
😳
Quite a long way.
In fact, Mum may claim it was about a quarter of a mile.
I cannot confirm or deny this because I was very busy at the time.
What I can confirm is that the hare was having an absolutely brilliant time.
It kept running.
So I kept running.
Honestly, I thought we had formed some sort of understanding.
Mum, however, did not share this interpretation.
Apparently she was standing in the middle of the forest road shouting:
“JET!!!”
I vaguely remember hearing something in the distance.
Could have been Mum.
Could have been the wind.
Hard to say.
Eventually the hare ran through a big fancy gate.
I hit the gate.
It had a gap at one side.
The hare casually hopped through it.
I did not.
So there I was, suddenly standing on the wrong side of a gate, watching my new friend disappear into the countryside.
And behind me?
Mum.
Marching towards me.
😬
Besties…
There are moments in every young dog’s life when he realises he may have made an administrative error.
This was one of those moments.
I hung my head.
I lowered my ears.
I deployed the full Deeply Regretful Collie Face™.
Mum said several words.
I shall not repeat them here because this is a family blog.
Then the long lead appeared.
The walk home was…
quiet.
Very quiet.
I would describe it as a period of silent reflection.
Mum might describe it differently.
🐾 And then came the evidence…
When we got home, Mum noticed my paw was scraped and I was trying not to put too much weight on it.
Same paw I hurt earlier in the summer.
So she cleaned it, checked it, rubbed some salve on it and gave me the look.
You know the look.
The one that says:
I love you very much but you have aged me twelve years today.
It’s much better now.
Unfortunately, my freedom has suffered considerably.
I have been placed under house arrest.
Four days.
FOUR.
DAYS.
I wasn’t even allowed back into the car until it was time to go shopping with Grandpappy.
Mum keeps looking at me and asking,
“WHO was chasing hares?”
I have absolutely no idea why she keeps asking.
She KNOWS it was me.
Honestly.
Some people just enjoy dragging things out.

Anyway, I strongly suspect I shall be hearing about The Hare Incident until approximately 2034.

🌟 Paddie Paws Club is OPEN!
While I have been recovering from my brief career as an international hare-chasing athlete, Mum has been busy with something much nicer.
Paddie Paws Club has officially launched! 🥳🐾
And we’ve had some lovely messages from younger Jetsters — and some slightly older Jetsters too — who are enjoying it.
That makes us VERY happy.
The whole idea is that there will always be something fun happening there.
Mum plans to pop in little extras through the month too — perhaps a wee competition, a new download, an activity or something unexpected.
And then, on the 1st of every month, there’ll be a whole new batch of adventures and things to do.
Basically…
Free Jet Stream nonsense.
What more could anybody possibly require? 😎
📚 And Mum has been keeping SECRETS
Now.
Saturday was suspicious.
Mum took delivery of a new book.
A book she has been working VERY hard on.
And apparently I am not allowed to tell you much about it yet.
Which seems ridiculous because everybody knows I’m the senior member of staff around here.
I have, however, been authorised to reveal this:
There are three books.
They are especially for younger readers.
They’re something a little different.
And there are more planned.
👀
But you’re going to have to wait because they won’t officially be for sale until next year.
I know.
Cruel.
I tried to negotiate.
Mum said no.
Management is impossible.

🐟 Meanwhile, in Walter News…
I feel we need to discuss Walter.
Walter has apparently decided that life as a single gentleman is no reason to neglect his responsibilities.
He has been very busy building what Mum informs me is a bubble nest.
Which, as far as I can tell, is basically a tiny floating love nest for eggs.
There is, however, one fairly major flaw in Walter’s plan.
There are no eggs coming.
There isn’t even a lady fish.
But does this discourage him?
Absolutely not.
He is up there blowing bubbles like a tiny aquatic property developer, fully convinced that at any moment a suitable female will arrive, inspect the premises and say:
“Oh Walter… you shouldn’t have.”
Personally, I admire the optimism.
Mum says he’s just following instinct.
I say he’s building a nursery for imaginary children.
Either way, he seems very pleased with himself.
And frankly, besties, if Walter wants to spend his days constructing a luxury maternity suite for absolutely nobody, who are we to stand in the way of true love? 😂🐟
And before anybody starts thinking Walter has gone soft and romantic…
he has not!
He is still every bit as crabbit as ever.
In fact, he now appears to be guarding his completely imaginary future family with military seriousness.
Anyone who dares so much as LOOK in his direction is met with an immediate display of outrage — puffed-up wee cheeks, flared attitude and the unmistakable expression of a fish who is saying:
“WHAT are YOU looking at?”
Honestly, besties, he is about two inches long and carries himself like an angry nightclub bouncer. 😂
So, to summarise:
Love nest built.
No lady.
No eggs.
Still furious.
This is Walter, everybody. 🐟💙

🎃 A quick word from the Halloween department…
If you are wanting anything from the Halloween section of our shop — including a treat box, Boo goodies or one of Mum’s cuddly blankies — please don’t leave it too late.
Mum needs orders no later than the 18th October so everything has time to arrive before Halloween.
After that, the spooky department shuts its coffin lid for another year. 🦇
And quite frankly, I’ll be glad.
I’ve seen enough pumpkins.
👀 And what’s happening next?
Next week should be business as usual here at Jet Stream Towers.
Which means there will almost certainly be gossip.
Possibly scandal.
Definitely nonsense.
Mum has a few things happening, I have my own important supervisory duties, and knowing this place there will be at least one incident involving an animal, a parcel, a missing object or Kevin behaving suspiciously.
So next week’s blog will be packed with all the usual daftness.
But…
There IS something happening the week after. 👀
Mum is going away for a few days.
I have been told I am not allowed to reveal where just yet, which frankly seems unreasonable because I know EVERYTHING that happens in this house.
Mostly.
We might tell you a little more about that in next week’s blog.
Then, while Mum is off on her travels, I shall be checking into what I personally consider my luxury spa retreat.
Some people may refer to it as boarding.
Those people lack imagination.
There will be meals.
There will be walks.
There will be beds.
There will be staff attending to my needs.
Spa. 😌
And once I return, I fully intend to provide you all with a complete review of my stay.
Service.
Accommodation.
Food.
Staff performance.
Whether sufficient attention was paid to me.
The important things.
So there’s plenty coming, besties.
But for now, I’ll be right here at Jet Stream Towers, gathering gossip and doing my best to avoid any further conversations involving the words:
“WHO was chasing hares?”
Anyway, my paws are tired from typing and I have already done far too much work for one Border Collie.
I hope you all have a brilliant week and I’ll catch up with you again next week with more gossip, chaos and completely unnecessary drama from Jet Stream Towers.
Remember, you can always drop me an email if you have any news to share, anything you’d like to see in the blog, or something you’d like to ask me.
I am very knowledgeable.
Except apparently when it comes to whether chasing hares is a good idea.
According to Mum.
Love & nose boops,
Jet x 🐾💙
