A weekly update from Jet Stream Towers

Hello, my wee adventurers. Jet here! 🐾

Can you believe it has already been a whole week since the doors of our new Jet Stream website and shop officially opened?

Mum and I spent weeks preparing everything behind the scenes—although I should point out that Mum did most of the typing because my paws kept pressing several keys at once. Then, at seven o’clock, the doors finally opened…and what an amazing first week it has been!

We have packed parcels, signed books, checked orders and wandered around Jet Stream Towers grinning at one another. Well, Mum did the grinning. I mostly supervised and waited for somebody to produce snacks.

We honestly cannot thank everyone enough for visiting the website, placing orders, sending lovely messages and supporting our wee dream. Every order has meant so much to us. Seeing Jet Stream begin to grow into a proper little world of stories, countryside adventures and general animal nonsense has been incredibly exciting.

There has been another rather enormous change at Jet Stream Towers too.

Mum has now left her job and is working on Jet Stream full-time.

That means she can spend her days writing stories, updating the website, packing parcels, planning new adventures and following me around the countryside with a camera. It also means there is nobody available to tell her to stop working—apart from me, and she rarely listens.

She has been very busy behind the scenes, learning how everything works and making plans for all the exciting things still to come.

I am, of course, the Chief Executive Border Collie.

Mum is Head of Everything Else.

A Day Out With Cousin Dottie

A few days before our great hill expedition, we enjoyed a lovely wee day out with my cousin Dottie.

Dottie is a sweet wee doodle who enjoys my company, although she is slightly less enthusiastic about unexpected noises, suspicious shadows and almost everything else in the world.

We had a lovely time exploring together, sniffing important things and enjoying the countryside. I tried to demonstrate the correct Border Collie approach to adventure: walk confidently, investigate everything and always keep one eye on the possibility of snacks.

News From the Rest of the Crew

Back at Jet Stream Towers, the other members of the team have also been making their own valuable contributions.

Kevin continues to patrol the grounds as Head of Security, despite having misplaced most of his magnificent tail feathers. He may currently look less like the grand guardian of an important estate and more like a feather duster on legs, but his confidence remains entirely unaffected.

He has also taken a keen interest in parcel inspections. Every box must apparently be examined by Kevin before it leaves the premises. We suspect he is looking for unauthorised snacks.

Paddy applied for the position of Head of Packaging.

His application was rejected after he attempted to eat the labels.

He is now working in Waste Disposal, which mainly involves standing nearby in the hope that somebody drops something edible.

Del Boy remains in charge of announcements. Unfortunately, nobody has yet located his volume control. Every important event at Jet Stream Towers is therefore accompanied by an earth-shattering HEE-HAW from the barn.

Together, we form a highly professional organisation.

Mum says this is debatable.

The Three-Day Camel Trek

Then Sunday arrived.

Mum announced that we were going for a pleasant countryside walk.

This turned out to be what can only be described as a three-day camel expedition squeezed into a single afternoon.

There were hills. Then more hills. After those hills, we found several additional hills that had apparently been hiding behind the first lot.

We walked through heather and rough grass, along rocky paths and past a beautiful little lochan tucked among the hills. The sky stretched above us, the views seemed to go on forever and autumn was beginning to brush the countryside with gold.

It was absolutely beautiful.

Mum had confidently declared that there would be no midgies and that she definitely would not get sunburnt.

There were midgies.

She got sunburnt.

By the time we returned home, Mum claimed that she might wake up dead the following morning. I am pleased to report that she did wake up alive, although she is currently walking in a manner that suggests some of her moving parts may require servicing.

I, naturally, recovered after a drink of water, my dinner and a brief nap. Elite athletes are very good at this sort of thing.

The Search Continues....

Our next adventure will take us into the forest at the end of this week.

There will be trees, winding tracks, autumn smells and plenty of places to investigate. I may even manage to track down one of the countryside’s greatest and most mysterious treasures…

The elusive foxy poo.

Once a regular feature of my woodland expeditions, it has been strangely absent for the past few months. Mum considers this excellent news. I consider it an unresolved wildlife mystery.

Rest assured, I shall continue the search.

Billy, Bob and the World Stage

We must send a very special good-luck message to our friend Billy and his remarkable sheepdog, Bob, because they are about to compete at the 2026 World Sheep Dog Trial!

The event is taking place at Huntington Farm near Lauder in the Scottish Borders. Dogs and handlers from 34 nations will compete on one of the greatest stages in the sheepdog world, with the competition running from Thursday 17 until Sunday 20 September.

Billy is a local farmer and highly skilled handler, while Bob is the clever four-legged half of their partnership. Mum says watching the two of them work together is something very special indeed.

I would like to make it clear that although Bob and I are both Border Collies, we currently work in very different professions.

Bob expertly moves sheep around fields.

I supervise website development and locate foxy poo.

Every dog has his own particular talents.

We will be following Billy and Bob’s progress and cheering them on from Jet Stream Towers. After everything they have been through recently, seeing them reach the World Trial makes this an especially proud and exciting moment.

New Arrivals and Not So Secret Plans

There is also lots of new Jet Stream merchandise making its way towards us during the month ahead.

Mum has been choosing, ordering and planning behind the scenes, while I have been carrying out the extremely demanding responsibility of looking handsome beside things.

We will reveal each of our new arrivals as they reach Jet Stream Towers and pass the official Border Collie quality inspection. There will only be small quantities of some items, so you may need to keep your eyes peeled.

We also have two very special announcements coming soon.

One will take us deeper into the golden colours, winding paths and natural treasures of autumn.

The other has a distinctly spooky feeling about it…

There may be treats.

There may be surprises.

There may even be a Halloween howl drifting across the hills.

That is all I am permitted to say for now. Mum has threatened to confiscate my keyboard if I reveal anything else.

A Special Product Every Couple of Weeks

We are also planning to introduce a Special Product of the month.

Each week, we will choose one item from the Jet Stream shop, give you a closer look and offer it at a special price for a limited time.

The chosen product will usually be useful.

Usually!

Occasionally, its main purpose may simply be to make you smile—and we consider that useful too.

It could be an old favourite, one of our newest arrivals or something that has been quietly hiding in the shop waiting for its moment in the spotlight.

What Do You Think About Gift Cards?

Mum has also been wondering whether you might like us to introduce Jet Stream gift cards.

A gift card could be sent to somebody for a birthday, Christmas or another special occasion, allowing them to choose their own favourite item from the shop.

It might also solve the difficult problem of buying for somebody who already owns seventeen mugs, several blankies and enough Border Collie merchandise to open their own museum.

mum might even use them as prizes in the future, giving you the opportunity to win one and choose something from our wee shop.

What’s Coming to the Website?

The Jet Stream website might have opened its doors, but it is far from finished.

Over the months ahead, it will continue to grow, change and evolve. New paths will appear, more doors will open and there will be lots more for you to discover.

We want it to become much more than a place where you can visit our shop. It will be our own little countryside corner of the internet—a place filled with stories, photographs, films, adventures and the everyday chaos of life at Jet Stream Towers.

Sneaky Peeks

One of our planned new sections is called Sneaky Peeks.

This is where we will take you behind the scenes and share little glimpses of what we are working on. You might spot part of a new illustration, a mysterious parcel, a page from an unfinished story or the first clue about something exciting coming to the website.

Some peeks will answer questions.

Others will probably create several more.

You may also occasionally see Mum surrounded by boxes, ribbon and pieces of paper while quietly questioning every decision that brought her to this point.

That is what professionals call the creative process.

Come Walking With Us

Now for one of our biggest—and most exciting—plans.

We will soon begin making our own little films of our walks!

Each film will be around three minutes long and will let you come along with us as we explore forests, hills, lochs, hidden paths and beautiful corners of the Scottish countryside.

You will be able to see where we have been, what we discovered and whatever unexpected nonsense happened along the way. Sometimes there may be sunshine and spectacular scenery. Sometimes there may be rain, mud and Mum wondering why she didn’t stay at home.

The films will be hosted on our YouTube channel, with a special section on the Jet Stream website where you can simply click the link and join us on our latest adventure.

It is something Mum and I have wanted to do for a long time. Photographs can capture a beautiful moment, but these little films will allow us to share the sounds, movement and atmosphere of the places we visit—the wind through the grass, water tumbling over stones and the patter of Border Collie paws along the trail.

It will be almost like coming for a walk with us, except you can remain warm, dry and entirely safe from midgies.

We cannot wait to take you along.

Remember that you can email us whenever you like.

You can ask us a question, tell us what you think about the website, suggest something you would like to see or simply send a hello from wherever you are in the world.

Mum reads every message, and I supervise the replies.

We especially want Jet Stream to feel like a friendly wee community—not a website that talks at you and then disappears. Your ideas, stories and feedback will help us decide how our little corner of the internet grows.

One Small Personal Matter

Finally, I have received some slightly troubling news.

Apparently, I am visiting the vet next week.

Mum claims it is only my annual check-up and injections. She says there is absolutely nothing to worry about and that I must be a big, brave boy.

Naturally, I am not worried.

I am merely concerned for the vet.

There may be thermometers. There may be needles. There may be an undignified examination of areas that a Chief Executive Border Collie prefers to keep private.

I shall face this ordeal with tremendous courage, provided Mum brings sufficient treats and does not tell anyone if I attempt to hide behind her legs.

Please send brave thoughts.

And possibly chicken.

Thank you for every order, every message, every comment and every word of encouragement. Most of all, thank you for joining us at the beginning of this wonderful new chapter.

The doors to Jet Stream are open, the kettle is on and the path ahead is waiting.

Now, if you will excuse me, I have a forest expedition to prepare for, a film career to launch, a veterinary appointment to worry about and an elusive foxy poo to locate.
